Masters of Photography: Herb Ritts | 1952 - 2002

Last week I was pleasantly surprised to receive a few Herb Ritts post cards by a good friend that came back from L.A. She had visited the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center that houses European and American photographs, sculptures, drawings and decorative arts.

Masters of the Needle | Kota Shimamura

LINK: THE INTRO

The mild afternoon of the 1 of January 2012 was the right time to turn the page to a new chapter. After waking up in the middle of the day, we somehow felt utterly relaxed, despite the long and glittery night running on festive treats. Looking forward to the rendezvous, we knew that any delay for a scheduled appointment with Japanese is unacceptable. Rushing through Paris, we got to the Le Marais a.k.a The Marsh - the oldest part of the city that hosts many opulent mansions and has become home for most of the top fashion brand showrooms.

Wearing a 10 minutes delay on our forehead, we found ourselves grinning like the Cheshire cat in front of our friends, who were waiting patiently for us to appear. All the inconvenience faded away, as soon as we got to talk to Kota, who seemed calm and rooted, gazing through his round-frame Tom Ford spectacles.

COMING SOON | An Interview With Japanese Masters Of The Needle

As true proponents of the law of attraction, we believe that nothing in our life happens by accident.
It was in accordance with God’s plan to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the heart of Paris, under the
signature set of French DJ Miss Kittin, who fueled us up with power, dancing and strolling through
the feverish crowd.Under the red pulsing lights nothing could halt the momentum, not even the saucy
chicks, prodding their way up the dance spot, which few of us could hardly share.

Everything felt right in the last day of 2011, but perhaps it was a matter of free will to decide on
meeting two Japanese guys, who drew our attention towards their impeccable, clean, monochrome
looks. We somehow knew that our crossing point would be fashion, but couldn't imagine the talk
would go on in the absence of any language in common.Well, except for the prevailing gesticulation
that didn't bother the open dialog and we stayed patient and truly willing to unveil the story of those two.

That night we seemed to have convinced our new friends to take an interview on the first day of the
new 2012. Be sure to check back in for the whole story...

JEN KAOs' crochet

JEN KAO is one of those young designers to clearly keep an eye on. Her crocheted knits are something she manages to transition into every collection keeping the ultra-sexy look sophisticated, yet wearable. She pushes the boundaries of crocheting taking them onto a new planetary scale.

Gaia Repossi. The Goddess of Jewelry.

                 Photographer: Karl Lagerfeld
Gaia Repossi, heiress of the Repossi Joailliers family-owned jewelry house, is in her early twenties and since 2005 has been artistic director of the family business. In her world, nothing seems to be mainstream. From her studies at the University of the Sorbonne in Anthropology, tо her Ayurveda skin care routine, she seems to break all expectations of a rich, pampered heiress. Her appearance of a strong, confident, independent woman, are covered by a deeper understanding, consciousness and spirituality, besides the impeccable style she possesses. The only daughter of Alberto Repossi, and great-granddaughter of the founder of the House, Gaia has within two years imposed her own vision of today's jewelry. In 2007, the Ère collection which was designed by Gaia, set the tone: precious jewelry but of each instant, a youthful spirit, soon translated into successive declensions that were to be Nérée, Maure and the most recent collection of High Jewelry, Snakes.

Gaia’s collaboration with Zadig & Voltaire follows her successful cooperation with Alexander Wang and Joseph Altuzarra.
